A breath of fresh air…

Mediterranean seems to be the flavor of the season. Out of numerous new places opening every week, half must belong to this fervor. Not only restaurants, but also cafes and bars seem to be thronging on pita-hummus duo.

Fresc Co at the Ambience Mall, comes as a breath of fresh air, with something different to offer in the done-to-death Mediterranean cuisine. First of all, despite being located in food court of Ambience mall, there is hardly any ambience (read feel) of the mall around you. It has both sit-in and al fresco area. The colour theme is soothing white and turquoise blue, with hints of olive green thrown in. Beach photographs and insignia can be seen all around. Glass jars in various shapes filled with spices are used as creative decorative pieces.

We visited Fresc Co on a weekend and took benefit of their very economical ongoing promotional activity: Weekend Brunch with unlimited beer or wine at just Rs 950 plus taxes. Selection of delicacies, free flowing beverages, soothing music and friendly service indeed lifted the mood of that particular weekend’s afternoon.

The brunch offers a wide selection of soups, appetizers, salads, grills, main course and desserts from interactive counters laid inside the restaurant. There are some interesting elements like live pizzas and pasta counters, create your own shawarmma and much more. The dessert selection includes a live soufflé station and other signature desserts including freshly cut fruits, Vanilla and Chocolate Ice?cream, Mango, Blueberry

Souffle, Chocolate Moose, and Chocolate Fudge. To wash it all down, there is a free flow of unlimited Brut Sparkling Wine & Asahi Beer. The food was above average category, though the pizza’s could have been better. They were neither Domino’s style – commercial thick crust nor the original Italian Pizza with a paper thin crust. Pastas though were first rate. Besides, you must try their very refreshing cocktails, good stuff t’was. Tiny Lamb Burgers were also interesting. And ah, don’t forget to try fruit salad made with egg-less mayonnaise.

All in all, it is one of the more prominent restaurants in Gurgaon offering competent Mediterranean fare. So if you are tired of the Punjabi-Oriental combo, you could come here to indulge in some pasta-pizza duo!
