Ignis restaurant in Connaught Place

The word “Ignis” means Fire in Latin, the language of the ancient Romans, a race that knew the secrets of fine flavours before anyone else in the Continent.

As man accidentally discovered fire, by possibly rubbing two stones together more than three quarters of a million years ago, he created for himself the ability to keep warm, battle darkness and yes, cook his food.
Food and Fire have been inextricably linked, from the time the first flame was lit in some pre-historic hearth in the shadows of the dinosaurs, to now, when cooking itself has become a fine art.

Ignis brings together this deep understanding of Food from across the seas, and blends it with India’s own unique experience with Fire, to craft “glocal” recipes that simply “ignite” the palette and feed the soul. This fusion cuisine, which carries the delicate whiff of the Continent and the earthy, spicy and “fiery” feel of India and the North West Frontier provinces, define Ignis and what it stands for. It’s been brought forth by Salil Malik of the Da Milano brand and Tarun Sikka. This venture is being helmed by Restaurateur Manav Sharma of the popular eateries like Ploof, Blanco, Chilli Seasons, and the Kitchen, fame.

Intense warmth, radiating lights and unimaginable energy is what the first impression that one gets at entering.  Los Angeles based interior decorator Deepak Chawla has done up the decor in different shades of gold signifying fire, with gold circular mounds on the ceiling in multiplicand shapes of gold or the statues of Buddha strategically placed all over the restaurant , reflecting the different hues of fire ,lend a warm glow to the interiors.
And what Ignis, Delhi’s brand new hot spot overlooking the central park in the inner circle of CP, stands for is an enticing, imaginative and completely different menu, where untried and “unheard of” cooking techniques conjure up new and old familiars and where people from all parts of the city meet.
At “Ignis,” the tandoor (the sizzling oven) has been fired for unusual as well as well known gastronomic fare. The eclectic spread will be prove irresistible to vegetarians and meat lovers willing to explore, experiment and take the unbeaten path. The menu has been designed by their executive Chef, Megha Sharma who has worked with the pioneers in the industry like the Park Hotel,Intercontinental Hotel, Taj Place and The Great Kebab Factory amongst others.

The hitherto humble Indian griddle, the tawa, now brings you gourmets exotica you scarcely thought existed. Doing justice to the multi-faceted, “glocal” menu is an assortment of non-traditional starters, main course dishes and soups, which will whet the appetites of sophisticated foodies. The starters from the world cuisine include delectable starters like the chicken souvlaki and the chicken & olive parcels or the Indian starters like the basil pepper paneer tikka , the asparagus & corn kebabs or the Amritsari tawa boti or the spinach kebabs. You can try the herbed chicken broth with garden vegetables if you want to try something light or for the Italian lover’s there is their in house special pepperoni pizza. The world cuisine section brings to you the specials like the grilled cottage cheese steak with tri pepper sauce, or the roast chicken with Lyonnaise potatoes, or the grilled jumbo prawns with sautéed vegetables. The Indian main course includes delicacies like Nilgiri chicken korma, Andhra fish curry or like the Dilli paneer curry or the Muradabadi dal. Diners can enjoy a fabulous finale to their meal, indulging in lavish creations such as the sinful desserts like the blueberry cheese cake & the New York fudge brownie with walnuts.

Ignis is an amazingly affordable restaurant and is a real value for money in times where inflation is at its peak. It offers food for people who relish the irresistible rich tapestry of flavours and fresh herbs.

So relax and enjoy a gourmet meal at Ignis, with an accompaniment of exotic mocktails as you unwind, savouring the restaurant’s cosy atmosphere, calming ambience and striking cuisine.
