Vietnamese Food Festival at Chilli Seasonss [Def Col, New Delhi]
Entering the restaurant, I was reminded of the many others that I have been to, with similar stress on spice in the Indian Cuisine. I was in for a pleasant surprise of Pan-Asian cuisine waiting for me. The restaurant is on two floors, the second floor is a cosy environment with dim lighting and a lounge feel while the first floor was bright lights and two rows of comfortable, regular tables. Soumen Datta’s paintings spruced up the walls with colors from Rajasthan and rural India, indeed a delightful touch of art for the soul. To complete the picture, the servers were wearing traditional Vietnamese paddy worker hats.
The food itself was what made the evening even better. A twenty-odd dish special menu is available for sampling some excellent Vietnamese fare. Starting with Pho, Clear noodle soup with your choice of add-on’, and adding some Crispy beans to go along. Also try the Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls, they are fresh, light and the best part, they are healthy. Cari Kwai Chay with its light flavours and the omni-present hint of lemon grass was just perfect. A must go!
Also look at the main-menu to have your fill of choice. Their menu includes a good spread of dishes for vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences and a choice of alcohol and vines to go along with your food. A 9 people kitchen attends to every need for up to 54 guests and visiting chef’s leave behind new dishes to the menu every now and then.
To end the meal, look at their Yoghurt Ice-Cream flavours. They are a good change from your regular death-by-chocolate choices (which is also available, just in case).
What worked: Great food, polite service, good value for money.
What to go there for: good meal with friends and family, lunch with colleagues, enjoying good taste of healthy Vietnamese food.
Overall: Ambience : 3/5; Food: 4/5; Service 3.5/5; Value for money: 4/5
